Hi, I’m Heidi, the heart and lens behind HM Design & Photography. As a dedicated photographer and branding designer, I'm passionate about creating images that truly resonate. My entrepreneurial journey began over 15 years ago in the graphic design world, and from the start, I've known my specialty: the art of visual storytelling.
My greatest joy comes from photographing the natural and unique bond within families. Whether it's the tender beginning of a new chapter with a maternity photo session, the delicate innocence of newborn photography, or the vibrant energy of family portraits, I cherish being able to capture these fleeting memories for you to treasure forever. I believe in giving you something truly unique, and that starts with taking the time to get to know your story.
Leveraging my extensive background in graphic design, I also specialize in personal business branding services. I love helping fellow entrepreneurs achieve their goals by creatively developing a strong, authentic visual brand that tells their unique story. It's incredibly fulfilling to live out my dream of owning my own business while helping others achieve theirs.
Beyond the lens, I'm a country girl at heart, deeply rooted in the secluded mountains of North Idaho. My soul is fed by being outdoors, whether I'm digging in my garden, tending to our small farm of goats and chickens, or enjoying adventures with our beloved dogs. Weekend trips to the beautiful mountain lakes with my family and friends are pure bliss – camping, fishing, hiking, and kayaking in the stunning Pacific Northwest are some of our favorite ways to connect.
Being a mother has been my greatest teacher, constantly reminding me how incredibly fast our babies grow. It's a powerful lesson in cherishing every moment, being present, and simply breathing it all in. My aspiration is to create beautiful images that allow you to freeze these precious moments in time, giving you tangible memories of your family's unique journey.

What to expect
Our lives are precious and fleeting. I capture reminders in photographs of how you all looked at each other. How small hands fit into bigger hands. How you laughed and played together. We’re capturing memories so we don’t forget. But we’re also capturing them for our kids to see how loved and treasured they were.
I offer fun-filled photo sessions where no one has to behave Everyone can run, wiggle, giggle, and snuggle. No pressure, just be you. Let’s capture your beautiful journey together.

Your 60-minute session will be full of fun prompts and lots of guidance but no stuffy posing! Come ready for lots of movement and play! It’s my goal at the end for your kids to say, “That was actually FUN!” You probably won’t even need that bribe you had planned!
I will hand edit your gorgeous images. Then I’ll present them to you in a private online gallery in approximately 2 weeks, for you to enjoy, share, and purchase. I can help you in selecting your favorites from digitals to prints, wall collections, and albums.
