Over the course of a year, I had the joy of photographing them three times. First for maternity photos. Then newborn portraits at home. And finally, a one-year milestone session in the fall woods.

Chapter One: Waiting for Baby

Our first session together was a maternity session. Just mom, dad, and their beloved horse.

We spent our time outdoors, walking slowly through the property, taking breaks to love on the horse and soak in the quiet beauty of that in-between season. There is something so tender about maternity photos. You can feel the anticipation and the softness. Life is about to change. There is excitement and a little bit of nerves and so much love.

The horse was such a meaningful part of their story. Including him in the session made the images feel even more rooted in who they are as a family.

Chapter Two: Bringing Baby Home

A few weeks later, I walked through their front door to photograph their newborn session in their home.

Newborn sessions at home feel cozy and real. There is no rush. No pressure. Just a new baby, sleepy stretches, quiet snuggles, and parents still figuring out their new rhythm.

We focused on simple, sweet moments. Tiny fingers curled around mom’s hand. Dad’s arms wrapped around both of them. Soft blankets and little yawns. We were not trying to create a perfect scene. We were preserving what life really looked like in those early days with a new baby.

All three of us knew that this season would pass quickly. Those first days are so intense and so fleeting. Having them documented is a gift you do not fully appreciate until time has passed.

Chapter Three: One Year in the Fall Woods

For their one-year session, we met in the fall woods.

The baby who once fit in the crook of an arm now toddled through the leaves. The light filtered through golden trees. The whole session felt playful and full of movement.

We captured:

The three of them together as a family.
Sweet moments with just mom and baby or dad and baby.
Little details like chubby hands gripping a leaf or that big one-year-old smile.

It felt like the perfect way to close that first big chapter. From waiting for baby. To welcoming baby. To celebrating one full year of growth and change.

Up to 3 hours of shooting time and up to 2 locations in the North Idaho area
All high-resolution digital images from each session
An online gallery with 100+ edited images per session
Easy print ordering directly from your gallery
Six months of cloud storage
A custom photo app so you can share your images with friends and family
A $200 print credit

You also have the option to add a third session in the same year for an additional $400. All images from that session are included as well. This works beautifully for a maternity, newborn, and one year set. Or a 4 month, 9 month, and 12 month milestone series.
